Hi. I am Paul and I am currently based in Canberra, ACT. I grew up in rural NSW and joined the Army in 1987 which is where I learnt photography. I shoot with Leica cameras with manual focus modern and vintage lenses. It’s not the camera that makes an image, it’s the photographer! I shoot female portraiture, and I adore monochromatic images.
I wanted to shoot with Sylph indoors, using a large window to provide natural light. I wanted soft and flattering light for a very attractive lady. The lighting and setting was used to provide a feeling of strength yet vulnerability.
Anne is a well known model and I wanted to take her out of the studio and place her in an area that just screamed Australia. I wanted to shoot this in a fashion that reflected historic Australian paintings and monochromatic depiction is used to reflect a ageless look.
