Blues Point Penthouse
Location: 14-28 Blues Point Rd, McMahons Point NSW 2060
Positioned in one of Sydney’s most architecturally historic pockets, McMahons Point. Blues Point Apartment is a new high-rise apartment building to replace the existing Blues Point Tower Designed by the architect Harry Seidler. The site has iconic views of Sydney Harbour, Sydney Opera House, and Sydney Harbour Bridge
The client brief requirements were to design a new apartment typology within the confines of the modular system, be spatially innovative and challenge preconceived notions of high-rise living, be materially rich and detailed to meet high standards of workmanship, speak of luxury, innovation, and forward-thinking design.
The design has been inspired by the local feel of McMahons Point, the natural environment, and the movement of the sun throughout the day in the area. An undeniable sense of harmony exists between external and internal design. In line with the elegant façade, everything about the interiors exudes restrained luxury. Within the premium finish palette, natural travertine stone is prolific, along with textured timber joinery and sturdy oak floors. Living spaces are opulent yet neutral, inviting residents to apply their own personal touches.
Articolo Exhibition stand
Location: Javits Centre, 429 11th Ave, New York, NY 10001, United States
The client brief was to design an exhibition booth for Articolo Lighting for the ICFF Exhibition at the Javits Centre, New York. Articolo is an Australian design studio that explores the ‘art of light’ through handcrafted artisanal and bespoke lighting pieces. Founded in Melbourne in 2012 by Nicci Green, who is inspired by European design and aims to insert Australian sensibility, honesty, and playfulness into every piece. The booth needed to reflect the brand and its ethos within the space and include a modular system reflective of the brand.
The concept behind the project was to immerse the visitors into the world of Articolo Lighting. The space showcases Articolos ethos, aesthetics, and shadow play of light that is inherent in their fixtures. Streamlined forms and diffused light provide the space with a monolithic and brutalist feel, which evokes the sense of a domestic art gallery with a contemporary, minimalistic ambience that is sensible, elegant, and refined. The palette utilised throughout the space plays on this and emphasizes natural and subtle materials with a rich, earthy sense.
