My name is Lachie Jones, Iām a Junior Graphic Designer currently working at Plus 5 Media.
I specialise in editorial and web design. I have been self-taught for 8 years and am a recent graduate of Billy Blue College of Design. Before working at Plus 5 I worked freelance for several clients and did videography work for a real-estate company. I look forward to growing my skills as I continue to grow in the field of graphic design. Areas that I want to pursue creatively are procedural design, design using AI and possible motion design, as I believe these will be the common norm for design in our daily lives in the future.
This magazine project was for my typography class, it involved creating a masthead, cover imagery and layouts for 7 spreads.
The cover imagery was created using stencils and spray paints then digitally manipulated to form the final artwork.
I enjoyed tackling the typography for the work both in the spreads and the masthead. This combined with the cover art was the fundamental basis for the brand identity of the magazine.
This was my first major graphic design project completed for my HSC multimedia major work. It was a 16-page magazine with an accompanying website.
The main goal for this project was to demonstrate my wide range of skills, and throughout, for example the simple task of an advert includes many skills such as logo development, 3D modelling, product designing and typography.
I find the functional nature of the design aesthetically pleasing as the scheme is universally clear.
